Directions from Naha Airport and Watakuchi Port

To get to Mizuna Island, take a ferry, which departs from and arrives at Watakuchi Port on the main island of Okinawa.

There are two ways to get to Watakuchi Port from Naha Airport: by bus or rental car.

The first is to rent a car at a car rental store near the airport.

Most car rental stores in Okinawa will pick you up at the airport, so please find your own rental store target upon arrival and complete the procedures.

After the procedure, set Watakuchi Port as your destination on your car navigation system, and drive north on Route 58, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The second method is to use local buses.

Take the "Yanbaru Express Bus" that leaves from the No. 2 bus stop at Naha Airport.

Since these buses are route buses, there is no need to make reservations in advance, and passengers board the buses by lining up at the stop, just like the buses they normally use to commute to work or school.

The "Yanbaru Express Bus" has a timetable, so please check the website in advance!

The trip takes about 2 hours, and the bus stop where you get off is "In front of the Headquarters Museum".

From there,Watakuchi Port is 700m away, but it is a 10-minute walk, so you can reach it quickly if you walk while stretching your body stiffened by the bus ride.

シュノーケル

There are several beaches on Mizuna Island, but the most popular of all is Mizuna Beach, located right next to the boat landing.

Recommendations

A general information center is located right in front of Suina Beach, with facilities including changing rooms, lockers, showers, and restrooms.

In addition, there are stores scattered throughout the area where floats, parasols, and rubber boats can be rented, and barbecues are available if you make a reservation in advance.

There is also a monitoring station and nets in the ocean to keep out poisonous habu jellyfish!

Beach below the lighthouse

This beautiful beach stretches across the harbor in the direction of the lighthouse, on the opposite side of Mizuna Beach.

It is a hole-in-the-wall spot where few people go swimming, so it is recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time.

Recommendations

This is not a beach, so there are no lifeguards, showers, or restrooms, so this is a bit of an adult beach.

However, the beach under the Suina Lighthouse has very fine, silky sand that is easy on bare feet.

The sandy beach is also a long beach, perfect for relaxing.

Directions from Mizuna Port

Even though it is on the opposite side of the island from Mizuna Beach, the island itself is small and can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot through the village.

If you don't participate in activities and have plenty of time to spare, why not go?

Seagull Rock Beach

This seagull rock beach is located on the opposite side of the harbor from where the boats arrive after passing through the village of Mizuna Island.

Recommendations

The area around Seagull Rock is one of the best diving spots in the northern part of the island, and many dive boats from Sesoko Island and the northern part of the main island come to the area.

There are no showers or toilets on the beach, so be sure to finish up in the village before you go.

Also, the beach is grassy and rocky, so marine shoes are recommended over flip-flops.

Those who are a little more adventurous will enjoy it.

Directions from Mizuna Port

It is located in the south of the island and requires passing through a settlement.

At low tide, you can also walk across the inner sea, the croissant-shaped inner side of the island, and enjoy nature on the way.
