If you are visiting by bus, get off at "Kuraha" and walk about 10 minutes to get there.

What is Mizuna Island like?

Let me first ruminate on the basic explanation at the beginning of this article: Mizuna Island is a small remote island located 1 km next to the main island of Okinawa.

Its area is only about 0.5 square kilometers, and its main topographical feature is the shape of the island.

Directions from Naha Airport and Watakuchi Port

The gateway to travel to Mizuna Island is Yanicha, Motobu-cho, located north of Naha City.

When traveling from Naha Airport, rental cars or buses are the basic means of transportation. The approximate time required for a rental car is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes on ordinary roads and 50 minutes on expressways.

On the other hand, if you are traveling by bus, the Yanbaru Express Bus is recommended. If you get off at the "Headquarters Museum Mae" stop, it is a 10-minute walk to the port.

Local buses and express buses can be used, but are not recommended considering the physical strength and time required, as they require transfers and are 3- or 4-hour journeys.

After arriving at Watakuchi Port, take the high-speed boat to Mizuna Island, which costs 1,730 yen round trip and takes about 15 minutes.

Since the trip itself takes only a short time, no antisickness medication is required unless you are very weak.

One important note to know is that boats to Mizuna Island cannot be booked in advance.
